Royal Family Events in 14th Cenury Berkshire
14th Century Style

King Edward III moved his family to Windsor Castle and many family events took place there and nearby:
  • Prince Lionel was married at Reading Abbey (1342) when he was only 3 years old!

  • Princess Margaret was born at Windsor Castle (1346). She married at Reading Abbey (1359) & was buried in Abingdon Abbey (1361).

  • Prince Thomas was born at Windsor Castle (1347).

  • Prince William was born at Windsor Castle (1348).

  • Prince John (known as John of Gaunt) was married at Reading Abbey (1359).

  • Prince Edward (the 'Black Prince') was married at St. Edward's Chapel at Windsor Castle (1361).

  • Princess Mary was buried at Abingdon Abbey (1362).

  • Princess Isabella was married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle (1365).

  • Queen Philippa died at Windsor Castle (1369).
