St. Bartholomew's Hospital
Newbury, Berkshire

Founded some time before 1200, traditionally by King John, St. Bartholomew's Hospital in Newbury are the oldest Almshouses in Berkshire. The present buildings only date from 1618, but the old chapel - now called the Litten - is 15th century and has a fine timbered roof. Jack of Newbury was married there!
